Unexpected rescue of a Seiko 3302-8080

This watch screams out loud a 1970s vibe with its two tone indices and faceted crystal more than many other watches I have, with a slight touch of the King Seiko-esque say a 5626-7000 (not same case though).

Got this Seiko 3302-8080 from the same job lot as the 0843-5010 and 8221-5000. I am quite surprised by how much it's possible to save from a job lot.

This 3302-8080 is an electronic watch that was quickly swept away by the tsunami of quartz watch into obscurity in the early 1970s.

When the coil is magnetized, it pulls the pallet fork, hitting the balance like a traditional watch.

Then the balance swings back, hitting the metal wire to cut the current to the coil.

The pallet fork is attracted to the other side with it's own permanent magnet. Momentarily after that the coil is magnetized again and the cycle repeats.

How fast the watch runs depends on how fast the balance swings around.

By turning the eccentric screw around the thin metal wire and the pole it contacts, I was able to get the balance to swing continuously.

Then the rest was a simple cleaning and servicing, which took 6 hours because 3302 movement is hellishly hard to reassemble.

Interesting faceted crystal, and the quick date advance by pushing the crown in.

And see how good it looks I modified earlier for 0922-8000.
